Our Story

Rubies Development Foundation (RDF) is an equal opportunity charity and non-governmental organization, committed to the comprehensive development of young people (girls and boys – including persons with disabilities (PWDs)in Nigeria. We work to inspire and empower girls and boys (ages 10 – 20), with the right tools and leadership skills/competences to enable them make right decisions to build their future, and become community change-makers. RDF also works to advocate for girls and women’s rights, as well as promote gender equality and social inclusion (GESI).

RDF works with in-school, and out-of-school youth:
  • Girls and boys ( 10 – 19 years of age );
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWDs);
  • Street children.

RDF operates a “Child Safeguarding Policy” with the overall goal to protect children and youth from all forms of abuse during the course of carrying out our organization activities. The policy has the following guiding principles:
  • Zero tolerance for child abuse.
  • Recognition of children's best interest.
  • Sharing responsibility for child safety.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Use of risk management.
  • Empowerment of children.

Youth Leadership and Mentoring Program; Family life, Health, and Sexuality Education; Prevention of Gender-based Violence; Girls Dignity Program, etc.

Individuals and corporate organizations are welcome to be part of RDF vision:
  • Volunteer your skill-set (youth trainer, community mobilizer, proposal writing, graphic design, photography, social media marketing, accounts/records, counseling, etc.);
  • Corporate partnership;
  • Technical and Financial Support;
  • Support the visually impaired (blind) children with learning aid (including braille & stylus, Braille papers, & Guide/walking cane), and other school supplies;
  • Donate ‘dignity kits’ (sanitary pads and toiletries) for girls.
  • Promote our work and follow @Rubiesdf on all social media handles.
